THE EARLY EDITION
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
E4’s UDDERBELLY PASTURE – UDDERBELLY
12.25pm (Ends 1.25pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009
After a brief hiatus the smash hit show The Early Edition is back in Edinburgh and better than ever. The daily papers are filled with doom and gloom and the papers are always right. Right? If we believed everything we read in them we’d never get up in the morning. Well, here is the show to challenge that and spring out of bed as it smashes those assumptions, ridicules the naysayers, unravels the spin and pooh-poohs the pomposity of headline print.
Get ready for another month of ridiculing these peddlers of duplicity, folly and the relentless over representation of the “moral minority”
And all of that before lunch.
The Early Edition is a legendary live comedy show hosted by Marcus Brigstocke & Andre Vincent.
Together they have been the backbone of topical TV and Radio shows in Britain for the last 10 years… Credits include The Late Edition (BBC) / Have I Got News For You (BBC) / Question Time (BBC) / Argumental (Dave) / News Knight (ITV) / The 11 O’Clock Show (Channel 4) / Andre Vincent – Hurrah for Cancer (BBC3) / The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) / The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4) / The Show (Channel 4) / History of Offensive Humour (Channel 4) / You Must Be Joking (ITV) / The RDA (BBC) / Jerry Springer Show (ITV) and many more…
The Early Edition was created as a spin-off from the highly acclaimed BBC 4 show The Late Edition and is fast becoming a festival favourite after enjoying complete sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006 & 2007, (it wasn’t there in 2008) the Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival in 2008 and storming the tents at Latitude, Glastonbury and Bestival .
During each show, two well known/topical guests will help the hosts pull apart the views and opinions found in the recent and regional newspapers. Previous guests include Phill Jupitus, Punt & Dennis, Dom Joly, Stewart Lee, Frank Skinner, Nicholas Parsons, Ed Byrne, Dave Gorman, Rich Hall, Mark Steel and Les Dennis to name a few and there are already some huge comedy heavyweights already lined up for the Edinburgh season. All guests will be listed on www.underbelly.co.uk

Tiernan Douieb: 28 Years Later - 4pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions presents
TIERNAN DOUIEB - 28 YEARS LATER
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - DELHI BELLY
4.00pm (Ends 5.00pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Tiernan brings his long awaited debut solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe Tiernan has never really grown up. In height or behaviour. How can he start to act his age and still watch cartoons? How can he grow a beard but still get spots? And why is he not fazed by impending financial doom but gets scared of werewolves when he travels to the countryside? “There are teenagers out there who are making bigger decisions about life and death than I ever have. OK, so it’s teenage pregnancies and whether or not to stab
each other, but that’s not the point.”
Tiernan is quickly becoming known as a top MC and rising star of comedy for his fast paced, energetic style and stupidly unpronounceable name. After supporting Jim Jeffries on 2007/08 tour he shared a show at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe with Scottish comedian Sean Grant receiving great reviews and audience responses. Tiernan has since performed at some of the top clubs in the UK and abroad, as well as playing several of the
comedy tents at the big summer festivals including Bestival and the Camden Crawl. He starred in Carlsberg Karaoke advert that hit the screens in late 2007, and more recently has worked as a presenter for Comedy
Demon and Virgin television.
In his debut solo show he tackles such topics as social issues, having a childish imagination and being scared of zombies. “I’m terrified of zombies. It’s not the notion that I might get eaten alive by a pack of them, but more that they might reject my brains because I’m an idiot.”
So join Tiernan for an hour of uplifting comedy about approaching 30, being diabetic and wishing he was Spiderman.
“Genuinely funny” ThreeWeeks
“Uplifting and light hearted... Douieb was energetic, fast paced and his humour was full of kitsch appeal” BBC
“Small in stature, not in talent” The Scotsman

Sammy J: 1999 - 6pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions presents
SAMMY J: 1999
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - DELHI BELLY
6.00pm (Ends 7.00pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Age Critics Award: Winner - 2008
Barry Award: Best Show Nominee - 2008
Best Newcomer – Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2006
Sammy J wants to tell you a story. It’s a story of innocence, floppy disks, Tamagotchis, dial-up modems, and awkward erections. Join the vastly unpopular Sammy as he struggles for survival in a new school term; while the other kids are discovering sex, Sammy is more at home watching Disney movies and writing songs about his teachers. But every nerd has a breaking point, and when the bully pushes Sammy too far, there’s no turning back. It’s a comedy, it’s a musical, and it’s a twisted tale of schoolyard retribution!
At 25, Sammy J is rapidly becoming known as one of the stars of both Melbourne and Edinburgh Festivals. Creator of The 50 Year Show, a comedy spectacular which will run every five years until 2058 in Melbourne, he snapped up the Best Newcomer award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2006 and starred alongside Adam Hills in the Comedian’s Theatre Company production of Breaker Morant in Edinburgh 2007. Sammy’s comedy songs are heard regularly on Australian TV and radio, and his new album “Sticky Digits”, recorded live at the Spiegeltent, is available now through iTunes.
Most notably, Sammy collaborated with puppeteer Heath McIvor to develop a full length musical, Sammy J in the Forest of Dreams, which received a Moosehead Grant, The Age Critics' Award and Barry Award Nomination for Best Show at the 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The show went on to earn five-star reviews at last year’s Fringe Festival, culminating in a sold-out performance in London’s West End last autumn.

Paul Zerdin: Sponge Fest - 7.15pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions presents
PAUL ZERDIN: SPONGE FEST
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - WHITE BELLY
7.15pm (Ends 8.15pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Arguably Britain’s most talented and leading ventriloquist and comedian, Paul Zerdin returns to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year with his brand new show Sponge Fest at the Underbelly’s White Belly venue.
Paul first came to the British media’s attention in 1996 when he won, by over 100,000 votes, the Big Big Talent Show hosted by Jonathan Ross. This lead to appearances as a magician on BBC`s Tricky Business, a ventriloquist on Hanger 17, and then a whole host of regular TV appearances... three Royal Variety Performances, Tonight at the London Palladium with Bruce Forsyth (ITV), The Freddie Starr Show, Big Breakfast (Channel 4), Generation Game (BBC1), A Royal Gala (ITV), The Stand Up Show (BBC1), Late Night With Jerry Springer (Channel 5), Live & Kicking (BBC1), Today with Des and Mel (ITV) and This Morning (ITV).
Paul was also a puppeteer in the Jim Henson movie Muppet Treasure Island, supported top names such as Norman Wisdom, Ronnie Corbett and Smith & Jones, ventriloquial adviser to Sir Anthony Sher in the BBC film Genghis Cohn, and has toured Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo and Dubai, as well as several trips to entertain our troops in Iraq. It was then, with all the television and live experience under his belt, that Paul decided to flirt with comedy and after 6 minutes at the Comedy Store, he was booked to headline the prestigious club on a regular basis
This year will see Paul and co return to the Fringe Festival with the cheeky and lovable Sam, the deafly amusing Albert, the adorably precocious baby and a few tricks up his sleeves,
Praise for Paul Zerdin...
"Technically immaculate, it's what he does with his slick talent that really sets him apart. His relationship with his characters has all the dramatic tension of a real life double act” – THE GUARDIAN
“Zerdin`s puppets are sharp – tongued, malicious little bastards. Avoid the front row, especially if you`re ugly” – THE OBSERVER
“It is Zerdin’s sharp script that is the heartbeat of the show” – THE TIMES
“If you think the words brilliant and ventriloquist have no place in the same sentence, go see Paul Zerdin for some brutal re-education” – EVENING STANDARD
“The best ventriloquist Britain has discovered for many years, who has mastered the knack of being acceptable to both comedy club and family audiences” - THE STAGE
“It is almost inevitable that the telegenic Paul Zerdin will soon be coming at ya from the box in the corner, he is so fast you will believe you hear him and the dummy speak simultaneously” - THE HERALD
“Paul Zerdin and his ginger – nut sidekick Sam didn`t so much steal the show as pull off the Light Entertainment equivalent of the Brink’s – Mat raid” – THE SUN

RANDY'S POSTCARDS FROM PURGATORY
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - WHITE BELLY
7.20pm (Ends 8.20pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Age Critics Award: Winner - 2008 & Barry Award: Best Show Nominee - 2008
Golden Gibbo Award: Nominee - Melbourne Comedy Festival - 2009
From the puppeteer behind critically acclaimed sell-out show ‘Sammy J in the Forest Of Dreams’ comes a brand new comedy about a life misled and a puppet unstitched. Join Randy as he rants his way through tales of disastrous career moves, romantic miscalculations and incredibly poor life choices. You will soon discover why this foul-mouthed yet lovable puppet has a soul as twisted as macramé as he rakes over the coals of his chequered past to weave an intricate narrative of heartbreak, redemption and catastrophic children's parties.
Heath’s career as a puppeteer spans over 10 years and encompasses film, television as well as theatre. In 2008 he collaborated with musical comedian Sammy J to co-write and perform in the smash hit Sammy J in the Forest Of Dreams. The show went on to collect The Age Critics Award and a Barry Award nomination in Melbourne as well as sold-out seasons at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London’s Soho Theatre and the 2008 Melbourne Fringe. The show has put both Sammy and Heath firmly on the comedy map and through Postcards from Purgatory, you will realise that Heath has even more to offer.
Debuting to sell out crowds in the 2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival and earning a nomination for the prestigious Golden Gibbo award (for best independent production), this toxic and intoxicating blend of story-telling, silly songs and sleight of hand guarantees a show not to be missed.
PRAISE FOR HEATH…
“McIvor fills a clunky, purple rayon acetate orb with more personality than you are likely to see in any ‘real’ show... this is a spotlessly written narrative of midlife’s self-loathing” – ***** THE AGE (Australia)
“Heath McIvor [is a] fiendishly talented writer and performer” - **** THE SCOTSMAN
"A master anecdotalist" - CHORTLE
PRAISE FOR SAMMY J IN THE FOREST OF DREAMS…
“Sammy J ... is often upstaged by the genius of the puppets, operated and voiced with great comic panache by Heath McIvor.” - ***** THE AGE (Australia)
“Ingenious… I’ve never been enchanted so rudely before.” - ***** SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY
“Brilliantly unpredictable gags…filthy, frenetic and gloriously funny” – **** CHORTLE
“It’s not often that you see a completely fresh comedy show but Sammy J and Heath McIvor have nailed it this time” – ***** DAILY RECORD

"A master anecdotalist" - CHORTLE
PRAISE FOR SAMMY J IN THE FOREST OF DREAMS…

“Ingenious… I’ve never been enchanted so rudely before.” - ***** SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY
“Brilliantly unpredictable gags…filthy, frenetic and gloriously funny” – **** CHORTLE

MARK WALKER: SCORPIO
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
GILDED BALLOON, Bristo Square, Edinburgh
8.00pm (Ends 9.00pm)
5th – 31st AUGUST 2009 (not 18th)
The sexiest and most roguish star sign in the Zodiac, the Scorpio can be jealous, moody, insulting and sadistic whilst also possessing the dynamic, magnetic, sensual and probing edge. With the latter in mind, Mark Walker probes into his life as a Scorpio in a Zodiac version of Alcoholics Anonymous as he returns to the Edinburgh Festival this year.
Exploring the events that have happened to him in his life and analyzing the way that he looks at the world around him, Mark is questioning the characteristics of a Scorpio. Comparing himself to fellow Scorpios (Picasso, Marie Curie, Dylan Thomas, Gandhi and Goldie Hawn), Mark will determine whether he is in control of his destiny, or if he is just a slave to the cycle of the cosmos.
Born in Ireland, Mark has been entertaining for most of his life and in the last 10 years his stand up has become renowned for its dynamic, creative and passionate style. 2001 saw Marks' debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with a sell-out return in 2003, and since then he has taken his comedy from the Middle East to the Far East and back to the North East. With appearances on various BBC1, Channel 4 & Channel 5 programmes, presenting 'Britain’s Wildest' for Sky One and several starring roles in the West End (Starlight Express, Oh What A Night, Heavenly Bodies), Mark is ready to seize the festival once more with a brand new hour of physical funniness and wiry wit.
PRAISE FOR MARK...
"Charismatic, generates such glee with the cracking pace and dynamism of the performance” – CHORTLE
"Vein-Popping intensity, he is clearly born to entertain". – THE INDEPENDENT

Pete Johansson: Naked Pictures of My Life - 8:45pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions presents
PETE JOHANSSON: NAKED PICTURES OF MY LIFE
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - Delhi Belly
8pm (Ends 8.20pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Canadian and American headliner Pete Johansson discusses what he feels, when he feels it in his debut Edinburgh performance, ‘Naked Pictures of My Life’.
Laid-back and observational, Pete’s ironic delivery has earned him deals with Warner Brothers, HBO and Castle Rock and landed him appearances on NBC’s prominent late night show Friday Night, HBO’s Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and a support slot for Russell Peters at the 20,000 capacity Orpheum in Vancouver last year.
Having conquered the west-side of the pond as well as touring sell-out shows in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Dubai, Qatar, Malta, Amsterdam and Afghanistan, Pete arrived in the UK earlier this year where he has already become a favourite at London’s renowned Comedy Store (where he recorded his new live CD), been invited on Radio 4’s prominent Loose Ends as well as other radio and TV programmes, performed alongside the likes of Stephen Merchant, Stewart Lee and Simon Amstell as part of charity Alert’s peace benefit at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London, and bagged a starring role opposite Ed Byrne is BBC4’s Sex Bombs.
In Naked Pictures of My Life, Pete illustrates the embarrassing developments of his life and how he has reached his ‘happy-apathy’ attitude towards life…
...Will Pete mention that his grandmother had 3 boob-jobs and 2 divorces by the end of the 1930’s?...
...That his lay-franciscan monk father took a vow of poverty despite his wife’s desperate want for money...
... That his LA TV-star brother Paul Johansson left Pete alone at 17 at a dinner table with the Ford-Coppollas...
Come and find out as Pete performs in what is sure to be the first of many of his UK solo shows…
North American praise for Pete Johansson...
“With very little effort, Pete Johansson’s brief set bought the night back from the abyss of common place” – LA WEEKLY
“One of the comics to watch…” - HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
“By far the breakout performer this year at Just For Laughs but, more importantly, made my list of best jokes, twice!” – THE MONTREAL GAZETTE
“Pete’s relaxed and insightful performance at the Improv bought the crowd what they had been waiting for all night”– NATIONAL POST

Rob Rouse: My Family... And The Dog That Scared Jesus - 9pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions presents
ROB ROUSE: MY FAMILY... AND THE DOG THAT SCARED JESUS
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
Pleasance Courtyard, Pleasance, Edinburgh
9pm (Ends 9.00pm)
5th – 31st AUGUST 2009 (not 16th)
In Edinburgh 1998, Rob Rouse followed in the footsteps of comedy legends such as Peter Kay, Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran when he stormed the So You Think You're Funny? new act competition and won. After performing as part of comedy sketch show Big and Daft (1999, 2000 & 2001), Rob returned to Edinburgh in 2002 and 2003 with his own solo shows, winning critical acclaim as well as die-hard fans and placing him firmly on the comedy map.
With countless television appearances [8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Spoons (Channel 4), The Friday Night Project (Channel 4), Guilty Pleasures (BBC3), Tunnel of Love (ITV), The Pilot Show (E4), Sean Lock's 15 Storeys High (BBC2)], numerous Radio 4 shows, UK and European tours and an internet phenomenon with his now famous pet duck (The Duck Films have just been reloaded onto Rob's MySpace and site and YouTube channel), together with the birth of his baby son, Rob's been a very, very busy boy.
This year sees the return of one of Britain’s most talented writers and performers with My Family.... And the Dog That Scared Jesus, which he debuted at this year's Leicester Comedy festival, the show is a journey through Rob's adult life, as a father, a comic and the troubled owner of the horniest dog you will most likely ever hear about.
Whilst Rob has always been known and loved for his hugely lively, loveable and energetic brand of comedy, this year’s show builds on Rob's strength as a comedic storyteller and will undoubtedly be one of the funniest and most unforgettable shows you'll see at this year’s Fringe.
Praise for Rob Rouse...

Despite being a relative newcomer, his confident, conversational style and silly sense of humour has seen him garner a host of awards and nominations, performances at Brighton Fringe, Latitude, Leeds, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Leicester and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals (Carl was also part of ‘The Comedy Zone’ in 2007) as well as various appearances on Radio 4, LBC and Kerrang! Radio. He has toured with top comics such as Russell Howard, Jim Jeffries and Rhod Gilbert and he is now a regular in all of the leading comedy clubs in the UK and Europe.
Expect big things for this much acclaimed and revered newcomer.
Praise for Carl...

GLENN WOOL: LET YOUR HANDS GO
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY HULLABALOO
GEORGE SQUARE GARDENS
9.15pm (Ends 10.15pm)
7th – 31st AUGUST 2009 (not 18th)
Glenn Wool continues to get better and better and returns to Edinburgh with his brand new show Let Your Hands Go.
Late at night Glenn is drunk, alone, in his north London flat when the call from his ex girlfriend comes in. She’s drunk and lonely too. He knows he shouldn’t. They’ve broken up and he’s leaving for L.A. in a month. Once more for old time’s sake?
Now he waits for an inordinate amount of time wondering where she went. Is this a joke? Why would someone call then not come?
In the last year Glenn has travelled the world more extensively than ever before. From meaningless sex with audience members, to helping mother with chores at Christmas time in the frosty climbs of Canada. There has been quite a duality to Glenn’s behaviour. These episodes and everything betwixt is covered in this journey of modern day heterosexuality. All the feelings one feels between the late night call for sex and the subsequent arrival in an honest, frank but never less than brilliant and hilarious account of this strangest of years for him.
Glenn began his comedy career in his hometown of Vancouver in 1995. He moved to London in 1998 and quickly became one of the rising stars of the London and international comedy circuit having performed in Australia, New Zealand, The USA, South Africa, Switzerland, France, Croatia and Arabia. Glenn was nominated for Best International Stand Up at The New Zealand Comedy Awards.
Glenn is a regular TV face having made appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC 2), 8 Out of Ten Cats (Ch4), The World Stands Up (Paramount) The BBC Stand Up Show, The Live Floor Show, 28 Acts in 28 Minutes and The Comic side of Seven Days for the BBC. He continues to be a regular in Comedy Cuts, the comedy show from ITV2. Last year Glenn wrote and starred in What's The Story? broadcast on Channel 4 as part of the Comedy Lab.
Radio is familiar to Glenn too having recently been in Political Animal and 28 Acts in 28 Minutes for BBC Radio 4 as well as headlining 4 at the Store (R4) and The Late Night Comedy Show for Radio 1.

FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
E4 UDDERBELLY – UDDERBELLY PASTURE
10pm (Ends 11pm)
6th – 15th AUGUST 2009
After a completely sold out run in London, star of smash hit TV show, Flight of the Conchords, New Zealand comedy sensation Rhys Darby (Murray) returns to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for just ten nights only with a new stand up show. This is sure to be one of the hottest tickets at the fringe this year.
Rhys’ stand-up has been described as a sensational blend of sound effects, characterisations and askew observations. His quirky, unique style of physical storytelling, whimsical tales peppered with sound effects has wowed audiences from Iceland to Australia, Bahrain to the Falkland Islands including every major international comedy festival on the planet. He truly is one of a kind.
A veteran of ten years as a stand-up comedian, Darby recently made his feature film debut alongside Jim Carrey in Yes Man. He then went on to feature as one of the DJ's in Richard Curtis' current film, The Boat that Rocked.
The release of his stand-up DVD, Rhys Darby: Imagine That! filmed live in LA last year is one of his proudest achievements and has gone platinum in his homeland.
After living in the U.K. and the U.S. for seven years, Darby now spends his time off at home in New Zealand with his wife and three-year-old son.
Praise for Rhys..

"The more important question was, is he as funny without the Conchords? The answer is a resounding yes!” Perth Now

Ben Dover - Innocent 'til Proven Filthy - 9.55pm
Brett Vincent for the Underbelly Promotions presents
BEN DOVER: INNOCENT 'TIL PROVEN FILTHY
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
UNDERBELLY, COWGATE - White Belly
9.55pm (Ends 10.55pm)
6th – 30th AUGUST 2009 (not 17th)
Adult film star Ben Dover makes his Edinburgh Festival debut with his show ‘An Evening With Ben Dover: Innocent - ‘til Proven Filthy!’ at the White Belly, Smirnoff Underbelly for the whole month this August.
Lindsay Honey has starred in and directed over 150 adult films around the world – you may know him better as Ben Dover. The UK porn legend recounts humorous anecdotes from his 30 year career in the adult industry both behind and in front of the camera. He lifts the lid on what it’s like having to live in the real world and ‘pornoland’ He gives his take on German Porn, men and women masturbating, and his experiences working in the U.S.A. This is a no holds barred hour!
He is responsible for the only Scratch ‘n’ Sniff movie – ‘Smells Like Sex’, and for launching the video line of the biggest adult company in the world, Private, by directing their first 7 big budget, high gloss feature films. Nowadays he is best known for directing and starring in the hugely successful Ben Dover ‘gonzo’ video series; a character led, reality based adult comedy-drama[!] which has so far achieved 20 number 1 chart placings in the adult video charts. The publication Adult Video News wrote: “In the great British tradition of the ‘Carry On’ movie, Ben Dover comes across as a latter-day Sid James. Importantly the injection of a bit of British humour doesn’t distract the viewer from the action…….”
Under his directing name Steve Perry he is listed by HUSTLER magazine as one of the top 50 most influential people in the adult industry today. At the annual ‘Porn Oscars’ in Las Vegas he has won awards for Best Gonzo Video, Special Achievement, and Best Speciality Video for Duke of Knockers 2. At the adult section of the Cannes Film Festival known as the Hot D’or, he picked up the award for Best Foreign Video, and in London, Best Selling Video at the ‘18’ awards. At the Sex Maniacs Ball he accepted a Lifetime Achievement award for his career in the adult industry.
The Ben Dover series is now available in the UK from licensed sex shops, and versions can be seen on The Fantasy Channel and hotels all over the world. Being Ben Dover is a full time job for Lindsay, so it was a welcome change when he was asked by BBC Producer Ruth Caleb to screen test for a role in the movie ‘Last Resort’. The film won the Michael Powell Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival and paints a bleak picture of life as an asylum seeker on the south coast. Lindsay however manages to raise a few laughs as Les, the smooth talking owner of an Internet porn business. Another role in the series ‘Mostyn Fflynt’ for S4C and the spoof documentary film ‘Rabbit Fever’ has allowed Lindsay to expand his straight acting talents.

Matt Kirshen - Shorter Than Napoleon - 10.20pm
Brett Vincent for Underbelly Promotions by arrangement with Old Man Management presents
MATT KIRSHEN: SHORTER THAN NAPOLEON
FRINGE FESTIVAL 2009
PLEASANCE COURTYARD – ABOVE
10.20pm (Ends 11.20pm)
5th – 31st AUGUST 2009 (not 18th)
Matt Kirshen, star of Last Comic Standing is back in Edinburgh and is now in his 30th year. Whilst noodling round the net, Matt discovered that he was shorter than napoleon. Quite a feat, but by the age of 30 Napoleon was an Emperor, had decided on a look and could already speak fluent French. Matt has achieved none of these things and isn’t very warlike, unless you count his laser quest skills.
Matt is back with a fantastic hour of new stand up, where he covers everything from the BNP and American Politics, to gay marriage and sex offenders, with an epic true story about being in France (see he is just like Napoleon) in between.
Matt has recently returned from a college tour (venues of between 2000 and 5000 seats) of the States with Jimmy Fallon (recently taken over from Conan O’Brien) and his radio and TV credits continue to be clocked up. Due to be broadcast on July 23rd for four weeks is his new show for Radio 4 Bigipedia (co-written with fellow stand up Nick Doody) and was the host of Rude Tube on Channel 4.
As well as his work in the US, Matt's many other international appearances include shows in Ireland, both ex-pat and local audiences in Dubai, Oman, Singapore, France, Austria and Germany. He has performed to festival crowds at Montreal, Kilkenny, Glastonbury, Oxford Truck and The Carling Weekend in Reading and Leeds, and is a regular at all the major comedy clubs in London and across the UK, including The Comedy Store and Jongleurs. Matt is also a regular face on television appearing in his own half-hour special for the World Stands Up, The Late Edition, Comedy Cuts, 28 Acts in 28 Minutes, and ITV’s Reading Festival Coverage amongst others, and of course Last Comic Standing on NBC
Praise for Matt...

Featuring toe-tapping tunes (F**k You Disney, I'm Learning How to be Less of a Dick), stunning visual effects and a cast of 14 puppets, this unique comedy spectacular which captured the hearts and support of critics and audience is back this year for a limited time.
Book now to avoid beheading by the King...
