A live extravaganza of the improvisational comedy show is coming to the Fringe this August! Hosted by Clive Anderson, what will undoubtedly become one of the smash-hit shows of this year’s festival will see some of the finest members in the improvisational world back together to adlib their way in a 14 night run at the 1,000 seater McEwan Hall. Greg Proops, Stephen Frost , Josie Lawrence, Mike McShane, Richard Vranch and Colin Mochrie are all confirmed to join the joviality, with other special guests to be announced.
Performing an array of various popular improv games, this is a show that promises to bring an hour of unpredictable hilarious nostalgia into your Fringe this year as the contestants await their instructions from the audience. Will they be forced to sing a hoe-down? Who will stand up, sit down and lie down? Which party quirk will keep the player on their toes? What World’s Worst will they come up with? Could they re-enact the Film and Theatre Styles from the Fringe?! Just how many props can they make from a pointless inanimate object? And how on earth will they read the end credits?!
This explosion of a Fringe show will be a battle of the wits for the improvisers and a thrilling trip down memory lane for the audience. No two shows will ever be the same. No points awarded will make any sense. Book early to avoid disappointment!!

Andrew Maxwell: Hubble Bubble
The Assembly Rooms, George Street, Edinburgh
August 1 – 12, 10.20pm
“Furiously funny and utterly invigorating” THE TIMES *****
“Fiercely intelligent” INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY *****
Returning for just 12 shows at this year’s Fringe, the ever-charming and mischievous Andrew Maxwell brings Hubble Bubble as his offering for 2014 – and promises to provide his characteristic intelligence, observational humour and that putting-the-world-to-rights attitude which has made him a firm Festival favourite in previous years and earned him two nominations for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award.
Maxwell recently presented Public Enemies, his own, hugely successful show on BBC Radio 4, which concerned itself with the lazy assumptions about four possible threats to British society: nationalism, the internet, drugs and the food industry.
Known for being on the cutting edge of comedy and for his social commentary, Maxwell’s live shows have established him as a notable force on the stand-up circuit. On television, he presented BBC3’s Conspiracy Coach Trip, which discussed world issues such as the 7/7 bombings and UFOs, RI:SE (as the US correspondent), and was a regular guest on Irish TV’s The Panel. He also appeared on numerous shows including The Secret Policeman’s Ball, Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Celebrity Juice, among many more.
Andrew is a co-founder of the Alps-based festival Altitude with Marcus Brigstocke, which, over the years, has featured some of comedy’s biggest names including: John Bishop, Tim Minchin, Eddie Izzard, and Jimmy Carr.

GLENN COSBY: FOOD JUNKIE
Venue: Assembly – Roxy Central
Time: 4.00pm
Dates: 2nd – 25th August (except 12th)
Previews: 30th July – 1st August
“His tastes buds are always bang on” Paul Hollywood
“Really good baking skills” Mary Berry
"I would actually like to live in one of Glenn's big bakes. Forever" Mel Giedroyc
The star of last year’s ‘Great British Bake Off’, Glenn Cosby, makes his debut at this years Fringe with his show entitled ‘Food Junkie’. Expect great stories, secret recipes and a piece of cake for every audience member! ‘Food Junkie’ will also unveil the world’s smallest bakery, where he will cook live!
Over 7 weeks, millions of viewers watched every technical challenge sitting of the edge of their seats as Glenn Cosby worked his way through series four of the ‘Great British Bake Off’. The gay baker, who is happily in a civil partnership, was the last man standing on the fourth series. He became known for his enthusiasm, big cakes, simple flavours and fuss-free approach, while the others patiently kneaded their filo dough he let the mixer do the work and had a cup of tea!
Glenn has always had a passion for food and consequently, like most of us, became a yo-yo dieter! He recently, however, lost 4 stone and will try and lose more before he hits Edinburgh! When he was much younger he used to want to be overweight just in case a girl asked him out! He figured that if he were fat he wouldn’t be put in that position!
He always loved to cook and bake throughout his childhood and teens, but got distracted when he went to university. He became a teacher and started to bake again, but didn’t really get back into it seriously until the first series of Bake Off in 2010, which inspired him to bake pastries and cakes regularly and also to tackle breads. After watching the first three series he decided to apply, along with 13,000 other applicants last year and was completely gob-smacked to be selected as a contestant!
Since Bake Off ended he has given cooking demos at major food events around the country including the Good Food Show, the Cake and Bake Show, Devon County Fair, the Exeter Food Festival and the Big Cake Show. He has also appeared on many TV shows including BBC One’s Spotlight and Inside Out and is in discussion with the production company that makes Bake Off about other television projects.

Having had such an incredible Fringe in 2012 with her critically acclaimed, award-winning deeply personal show, The Hedgehog Dilemma, it was near-on impossible to believe that Felicity Ward would surpass herself in 2013. But indeed she did, and now she has become one of the Fringe’s most favourite of performers.
The Iceberg has nothing to do with Leonardo DiCaprio. Or lettuce. Instead, it’s about perspective – what we see, what we think now and what is actually going on. For all the moments where you think you understand the enormity of a situation, then the water drains and you step back and realise what you’re really dealing with. You know what’s underneath the tip of the iceberg? The rest of the iceberg. Whether you choose to look or not is up to you…
First seen on the Australian comedy scene in 2005 in Ten Network’s popular sketch show The Ronnie Johns Half Hour, Felicity has since gone on to become one of Down-Under’s favourite funny people, appearing in ABC’s prominent music comedy quiz show Spicks and Specks, Thank God You’re Here (Channel 7), Good News Week (Channel Ten) and has her own stand-up comedy special as part of ABC2’s Warehouse Comedy. In 2008, she won Best Newcomer for the Melbourne Airport Award and has since been reeling in awards and nominations. 2012 was her year, with The Hedgehog Dilemma receiving a nomination, if not the award, at every major Australian festival.
She has toured internationally from London to LA to Hong Kong to Singapore, and in 2012 co-starred in Working Dog Productions’ (the makers of The Castle and The Dish) Australian comedy feature film Any Questions For Ben? In her brief time in the UK she appeared on Russell Howard's Good News (BBC) and from the Edinburgh Fringe was invited to perform The Hedgehog Dilemma in LA at the Hollywood Improv.

Stop the press! Not only has Fringe favourite Tim FitzHigham written his show before the end of July this year, but he’s actually performed two previews of it before Easter!! This August, the much-loved Spirit of the Fringe, multi-award winning, Perrier nominated comedian and adventurer puts his gambling days behind him (for now, anyway) to lift the lid on the most secret society in the world - the Hellfire Club – in his 12th solo Fringe show (17th Edinburgh in total).
In 1719 a very secret, ancient society (that may have been the real reason Caesar conquered Britain) went public. Perhaps by accident, madness, love or monumental drunkenness Phillip, Duke of Wharton, took the club public. Within two years it had been outlawed by the state. It went back underground - literally into a cave - and passed into legend but perhaps not retirement. The men and women that made up this club, it's practices and the fact that it may still run the world right now is an intrigue that still fascinates (Dan Brown in The Da Vinci Code for example). But how did expeditionary comedian Tim FitzHigham get involved? This is the show that all his shows seem to have been leading to...
In 2003, Tim got lost in a paper boat and created the sensational show Paper Boat, spending a night in the original Abbey Building occupied by the Hellfire club. In 2006, Tim got lost in Spain coming across members of a secret society, alleged successors of the Hellfire Club. His 2008 Captain Richard Burton show again brushed him into these illuminated ones. In 2011, he started gambling on a roller coaster that led to three years of high stakes white knuckle injury inducing hilarity. At every point in his gambling researches he hit a wall, and that wall was the Hellfire Club; Buck Whalley (The Gambler - 2011) was a member, as was the Duke of Queensberry (Stop the Pigeon - 2012), so too was Bauchamp Bagnel (Challenger - 2013). Then came the letter...
Tim gets some fantastically random stuff through the post, but one coded letter plunged him headlong into uncharted seas. Who wrote it? Was it Dan Brown? Exactly what did it mean? Was it a current member of the Hellfire Club and what did it lead Tim to take on? This is why Tim had to take on the club that has shadowed his life for over ten years...this is Hellfire. Come, enjoy, laugh and see more than ever before. And if Tim is a member of the club himself, now would be the time to reveal it…
Having rowed the channel in a bathtub, paddled up the Thames in a paper boat, lived as a medieval knight errant for a year, Morris Danced from London to Norwich and tackled a whole host of the world’s weirdest wagers, Tim is never going to give himself an easy time in preparing for the Fringe. The twice World Record holder’s unswerving devotion has seen him break various bones in his body, re-mortgage his house, contract a flesh eating microbe, collapse of dehydration, be blinded in one eye for six months, spend nights with the Leith Police, survive minor concussions and be hospitalised with a bone-marrow-eating infection, among a further catalogue of injuries and stunning disasters - all to create shows that make people smile.
Last year, Tim’s 2011 critically acclaimed show The Gambler was commissioned for a pilot on Radio 4 and this spring it has developed into a full series, featuring a stellar line-up: Dame Ellen Macarthur, Sir Matthew Pinsent, Kriss Akabusi, Marcus Brigstock, Alex Horne, His Grace The Duke of Buccleuch and HM Royal Marines. His CBBC science series Super Human Challenge was a ratings smash hit, and this April Tim is touring The Gambler in New Zealand for the first time ever.
Tim will also be appearing in Flanders and Swann, This is your Trial and Fool Circle at this year’s Fringe.

Fringe favourite Sammy J thought it would be humorous to fly from Melbourne to Edinburgh, perform just one show, then fly home again. This is that show.
Known and loved for his catchy, filthy, nerdy musical comedy stylings, Sammy J has stuffed his hand luggage full of his favourite songs, and plans to rock out for precisely 58 minutes before returning to the airport. If nobody laughs, it’s going to be a long flight home.
Usually paired with the foulest-mouthed puppet the world has seen, Sammy J is fast becoming a Fringe legend and in Australia his songs can frequently be heard on TV and radio. He has been involved in several productions at the Fringe over the years including his own solo shows as well as the hit theatrical production ‘Breaker Morant’ alongside fellow Aussies Adam Hills and Brendan Burns. His writing regularly appears in Australian publications and Sammy’s latest album Skinny Man, Modern World is available now through iTunes.
