One of the success stories of New Zealand stand up comedy. After winning the two biggest comedy awards in New Zealand (NZ Comedy Guild Best Male Comedian and The 2004 Oddfellows Billy T award in 2004), Hurley set sail for the UK and within a very short time has established himself, as a headline act. Benny Boot
With his unconventional comedic delivery and the perfect combination of one-liners, observations and gags, Benny is considered in the industry to be one of the most original and finest joke writers in the business. Because of this he is fast becoming known as the next ‘comic’s comic’. He stormed the Altitude Comedy Festival this March and was the one comedian, out of a line up of top acts such as Tim Minchin, Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle that everyone - audience, critics and comics - was talking about.
Last year, Australian born Benny’s debut solo Edinburgh show Set Up, Punchline, Pause For Laughter deconstructed the comedians’ performance. This year, Benny brings to Edinburgh a brand new hour of fresh new jokes, delivered in his soon-to-be-famous style, and trying to reach a level that athletes call ‘in the zone’ where, once reached, you would (theoretically) be able to say anything and the audiences will lose their minds.
Benny is still establishing himself on the comedy circuit after going full time this year. He has performed at numerous comedy festivals throughout the world and once became a UK finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

Keith Farnan
“Brilliant, thought-provoking and laugh out loud funny”
Time Out
Keith Farnan is the latest in a long tradition of great Irish comedians. His first two Edinburgh Shows have already been received with critical acclaim as well as Sell Out runs.
With a flair for combining intelligence, charm and sharp writing, his first show, Cruel and Unusual, dealt with the Death Penalty in America. Such was the response to the show, it appeared in the Royal Festival Hall in London as part of their Unwrapped Season. It has been touring various festivals and venues around Ireland and England since then.
The Second, No Blacks. No Jews. No Dogs. No Irish. All Welcome dealt with racism and immigration-ism and is being transferred to the Soho Theatre in March 2010 after a Sold Out run at the Edinburgh Festival 2009. Both shows featured on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and Cruel and Unusual is in development for Irish Television.
TV Credits include the Irish Stand-up shows, the “Liffey Laughs” for RTE as well as “One Night Stand” for BBCNI television. He has written and performed for the show “Sweet” on Irish Television and recently wrote for the Topical Panel show, “That’s all we have time for”. For Radio, he has written and performed his own comedy pilot, ”The Insomniac Club” for BBC radio as well as co-hosting and featuring on a variety of Arts Programs on Irish Radio.
“With his shaggy mind and ruffled demeanour he is as close to a reincarnated pre-Black Books Dylan Moran as we're likely to see nowadays…
If Eddie Izzard had been Irish, he'd surely have turned out a lot like Keith Farnan.” -The Scotsman
“Both witty and insightful, Farnan combines charm and chutzpah and tells a good yarn – his jokes can be sparky and sometimes even edgy, yet he remains gleeful throughout” – The Stage
“A Pacy, Compassionate Show… A Comedian with formidable Skill” ” – The List

Matt Reed
Born and bred in Sunderland, Matt's affable style has won him fans across the UK. He effortlessly plays with the crowd with a natural rapport that is found in few comics. Matt, always ready, never disappointing will always make a good gig - great.
With so many gigs of every size under his belt, from 3000 to 30, there is pretty much no comedy situation Matt can't handle. Papa CJ
If you like your comedians worldly, Papa CJ is right up your alley. This funny Indian export’s stand-up has been likened to that of an Indian Chris Rock – full of attitude, energy and caustic observations about society. He has sold-out not just his tours in India, but performances across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. His international exposure reached new heights when he became a top ten finalist in NBC’s Last Comic Standing. In the wake of such success, Papa CJ has not forgotten his roots; he founded the charity One Child which helps underprivileged children in India, funded by proceeds from his own comedy. It’s one more good reason why fans of international stand-up should come to Papa CJ.
Papa CJ has been employed by clients in multiple roles including performing stand-up comedy live or for TV, as an MC and compere for corporate events, as a host and presenter for high profile award ceremonies, as a warm up act for TV shows, as an auctioneer at charity events and as a performer at private functions.
"Possessing the energy and attitude of an Indian Chris Rock"
- Derek O'Brien, Manchester Comedy
"Caustic observations"
- Metro, Edinburgh Fringe
"Papa CJ's material is fresh and up to the minute with a sly sting in the tail"
- Louise Hill, The British Theatre Guide
"Trademark acerbic humour"
- Indian Express
"An unabashed master of the sideswipe"
- The Mirror
"It wasn't an earthquake, it was Papa CJ's comedy"
- The Times of India

Pete Cain
Pete Cain’s dark comedy is irresistibly funny. He tackles sensitive subjects with a sledgehammer. Blessed with a knowing look and a cheeky grin he makes people laugh against their will at the things they know they shouldn’t. He skilfully pulls the rug from beneath the audiences’ pre-conceptions, laughing them into a different way of thinking.
Pete has been a regular on the comedy circuit since 2002, after his second ever gig saw him into the semi-finals of Channel 4’s “So You Think You’re Funny” competition. Since then he has appeared at every major u.k comedy club, supported Lucy Porter on her national tour, featured on Radio 4’s “Political Animal”, warmed-up at the BBC for “That Mitchell & Webb Look” and is a favourite on the summer festival circuit. In 2006, Pete’s debut solo show, “The Idea Hunter”, opened at the Edinburgh Festival to critical acclaim.
In 2008, Pete took a year out to co-write, produce and direct the cult television sketch show, “No Signal”, for the FX channel. More recently Pete supported Jim Jefferies on his sell-out U.K tour, gaining a few fans of his own in the process.
Catch Pete at the Comedy Store in London, The Glee Clubs in Birmingham & Cardiff. The Stand in Edinburgh & Glasgow,
Press Quotes
“Adopting a cleverly conceived Everyman anti-hero persona, Cain reasoned that, as all the world’s problems are caused by overpopulation, the only logical solution is to start killing people, beginning with the “morons”. Dark but delicious” – Roger Cox, The Scotsman
“His stories are real and brilliantly funny. Definitely not a show for those of a delicate disposition, but sharp, dark and funny” – Three Weeks
“Get a ticket to see Pete Cain.” – Simon McKenzie, Edinburgh Evening News
"What an outstanding comic: sharp, inspired writing and he even looks funny.” – Independent

Pete Johansson
“Supremely Entertaining” The Independent (UK)
Awesomely funny! irreverent, brilliant, and smooth like fine jazz. Catching Johansson perform is a trip… You can't guess where he is going, but you die with laughter when he gets there. A former resident of Vancouver, Canada, Pete made his first forays into Hollywood after a wildly successful debut at the Montreal Just For Laughs festival, where appearing in one of the smaller shows he signed a deal with Warner Brothers Television.
‘With very little effort, Pete Johansson’s brief set brought the night back from the abyss of commonplace.’ -LA Weekly (USA)
Soon after Pete made his network debut on NBC’s Friday Night and followed that with the lead in the independent film ‘Mixed Signals’ with Jason London and Brook Langdon. Keeping on the road Pete performed across the United States for the Improvisation comedy clubs in his spare time. Returning from the road Pete started working with HBO independent productions in a new development deal and landed a spot at the USA Comedy arts Festival in Aspen Co, as one of the new faces.
‘One of the comics to watch in Aspen is Pete Johansson’-Hollywood Reporter (USA)
Pete also starred in his first half hour special for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in an episode of Comics, he followed this up the following year with an hour long special for The Comedy Channel’s Comedy Now series.
‘Pete’s relaxed and insightful performance at the Improv brought the crowd what they had been waiting for all night’-National Post (USA)
Pete has also performed on several Just For Laughs Galas(CBC),
‘By far the breakout performer this year at Just for Laughs, but more importantly made my list of best jokes of the fest twice!’ – The Montreal Gazette (CAN)
The Late Show with Craig Kilborn(CBS), and an appearance on Comedy Centrals Premium Blend, Two episodes of Comedy Centrals Remix, Open Mike with Mike Bullard(CTV), National Lampoons Funny Money(GSN), and the Showtime film The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie with Gena Rowlands and James Caan.
‘Strong performances all around at the Theatre St Denis, including some standouts…Pete Johansson being one of them.’ – Variety (USA)
Pete headlines comedy clubs around the world, from New York’s Caroline’s Comedy Club, The Helium Club In Philadelphia, Austin’s Capital Comedy Club, Minneapolis’s Acme Comedy Theater, The Comedy Store in London and Manchester, as well as shows in Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Afghanistan, Guam, Cayman Islands, Germany, Malta, Cyprus, Amsterdam, Ireland and Canada, and many, many more too numerous to mention.
‘Laughter fest… Hilarious’ – The List (UK)
Pete arrived in the UK earlier this year where he has already become a favourite at London’s renowned Comedy Store (where he recorded his new live CD), been invited on Radio 4’s prominent Loose Ends as well as other radio and TV programmes, performed alongside the likes of Stephen Merchant, Stewart Lee and Simon Amstell as part of charity Alert’s peace benefit at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London, and bagged a starring role opposite Ed Byrne is BBC4’s Sex Bombs.
In his hit solo Edinburgh show Naked Pictures of My Life, Pete illustrated the embarrassing developments of his life and how he has reached his ‘happy-apathy’ attitude towards life… This show garnered rave reviews and also bagged him a nomination for one of the most coveted awards in comedy. Here is some press Pete received…
‘This is the funniest first hour I have ever seen from a comic here in Edinburgh. Johannson is assured, relaxed, open and gently hilarious onstage. In fact, the rest of this review is just going to go on and on about how great he is so why not stop reading and go and get your ticket now… This is observational, anecdotal, autobiographical comedy at its best. His closing riff on engagement rings, intimacy and anal sex is one of the unmissable joys of this year’s Fringe. Look, I’ll give you my money-back guarantee. Now will you go and buy a ticket?’
Kate Copstick The Scotsman (UK)
‘He may have been shortlisted for Edinburgh’s best newcomer award, but Pete Johansson is no rookie. He has 19 years of experience behind him. That wealth of experience certainly shines in this assured show… Sharp asides add to the enjoyment. Cheekily playing up his foreigner status, he takes great joy in deliberately mispronouncing British words and asking ‘is that right?’, while he mocks the shock-jock comics with a sarcastic: ‘Ha, ha! Rape is funny.’ Steve Bennett Chortle (UK)‘Johansson is simply a lovable performer who wasted no time in exchanging banter with the very appreciative audience… he had the entire crowd hooked. Pete Johansson delivered his show with enormous confidence and panache. I couldn’t recommend this show enough to anyone looking for some mood-enhancing comedy. His show is simply fresh, positive and sheer comic pleasure.’ All The Festivals (UK)
Critics Choice: The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, The Independent, Scotland On Sunday, Sunday Herald, The List, The Scotsman, Three Weeks, Such Small Portions, Broadway Baby & All The Festivals
Awards:
Edinburgh Comedy Awards (formerly Perrier Awards) Nominee 2009
Chortle Award Nominee – Best Breakthrough Act 2010

Hertzian
Sam Willott and Si Baines are the driving force behind Hertzian. The boys met back in 2000 and spent time focusing on separate projects, until in late 2008, they discovered they were destined to be together!!
Now they're busy producing, remixing and DJing some of the grimiest, uplifting and totally original music to hit the scene in some time.
Willott's background in Drum n Bass, Hard House and Breaks, combines with Baines’ Trance, Hip-Hop, Folk and Rock influences... to produce a powerful, heavy and unique sound.
Their debut album, "LOAD" is scheduled for completion at the end of 2010 and will include the club smashes "Introducing" and "MIDI Evil", big remixes and some fresh, never-heard-before material...
With soundtracks on the cards, and festivals appearances on the horizon, the future is looking bright for Hertzian
